Our History
In 1952, William Arendshorst, MD, began his practice of ophthalmology in Holland. A pioneering spirit, he brought modern cataract surgery, intraocular lens implants, corneal transplantation, retinal detachment repair, and oculoplastic surgery to west Michigan. Dr. Bill was then joined in practice by his two sons, Tom and John, making Holland Eye a family affair. Today, Doctors Eric Snyder, Matthew Currie, and Benjamin Currie continue that same pioneering spirit and family-based approach. We are proud to offer the latest advancements in the field, with an emphasis on advanced technology cataract surgery.
Optometrists Tara Oosterbaan, Rosanne Pruis, and Kelly James round out our team of doctors, providing medical optometric care in addition to working closely with our ophthalmologists. Together with our dedicated team of nurses, technicians, and support staff, our mission is to serve our community by improving lives through compassionate, innovative, and personalized eye care.
Our main location in Holland boasts a newly renovated state-of-the-art clinic equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, a spacious and inviting lobby, and comfortable exam rooms to ensure that you receive exceptional care.
Located in the same building as our main clinic, Holland Eye’s Ambulatory Surgery Center opened in 1986 as the first of its kind in west Michigan. It has continuously been renovated and modernized with the most advanced surgical equipment to ensure that you have a comfortable, convenient, and precise surgical experience.
Our satellite clinic in Grandville provides a convenient location for even more of our West Michigan community. There you can access all of the same clinical services and many of the same surgical services as our main Holland location.
